Our Practitioners

James W. Short, M.D.

Dr. Short graduated from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1989 and completed a four-year Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Duke University School of Medicine in 1993. He then completed a two-year sports medicine fellowship at Duke in 1995, working with a variety of men's and women's athletic teams. Dr. Short is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. In addition to caring for his adult and pediatric patients, Dr. Short volunteers with the Person High School Rockets football team and volleyball team. He has four children.

 

Carrie A. Bowers, CPNP-PC

Carrie is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner that previously worked at UNC and was a member of their flight team. Carrie joined us in September 2018 on a part-time basis while continuing to work as a flight nurse. She joined us full time in April 2019. Carrie sees newborns up to age 21. Carrie also participates in the ROAR program (Reach Out and Read) where books are used as a developmental tool at each Well Child Check-Up until age 5. At every WCC visit, a child is given a Scholastic age appropriate book. Carrie is married to to Chris Bowers. She promotes preventative care and can answer any questions relating to vaccines. Carrie is a full time provider with RMP.

Jennifer S. Clark, FNP-C

Jennifer is a Family Nurse Practitioner that sees all ages. Jennifer promotes healthy living and is able to do complete physical exams as well as pap smears. Jennifer is certified in the placement of Mirena, Kyleena, Skyla & Nexplanon contraception devices as well as oral contraception. She is involved with her church and loves to camp, enjoys bluegrass music and ECU. Jennifer is married to Dwight Clark. She currently works four days a week with RMP.
